Rogers’ 50Mbps service available in Greater Toronto next month

Technology website Digital Home reports that Rogers will offer two new higher speed cable internet services packages to customers in selected areas of Toronto beginning in the middle of August, with the rest of Greater Toronto to receive coverage in mid-September. Rogers Extreme Plus (CAD99 per month) and Ultimate Tier High Speed Internet (CAD149) have respective download/upload speeds of 25Mbps/1Mbps and 50Mbps/2Mbps and monthly volume limits of 125GB and 175GB respectively. Cable-based rivals Shaw and Videotron already offer 25Mbps-50Mbps broadband package options. Videotron’s Ultimate 50Mbps package (Quebec-only) costs CAD89.95 per month.
