Asiacell sets in motion disconnection policy

10 Jul 2009

Iraqi cellco Asiacell has announced that it has begun disconnecting 500,000 unregistered SIM cards following directions from the government. More than 400,000 subscribers have so far legally registered their SIMs as a result of the new policy, which was introduced partly to prevent mobile phones being used for terrorist purposes.
