Ziggo ups premium internet service to 50Mbps

Dutch cableco Zesko Holdings (Ziggo) has reportedly increased the maximum download speed for its broadband services to 50Mbps, Telecompaper reports. Furthermore, the cable operator says it intends to up this still further to 80Mbps in the autumn, while the cities of Amersfoort, Enschede, Meppel, Maastricht, Tilburg and Heerhugowaard are being promised a 120Mbps service. Ziggo says it is also looking to upgrade average upload connection speeds to 5Mbps thanks to the deployment of EuroDOCSIS 3.0 technology, which will also require subscribers to acquire a new modem.
