3 Jul 2009

Alcatel-Lucent has announced that it has been selected by Shanxi Mobile, a subsidiary of China Mobile, to upgrade 90% of its home location register (HLR) network in Shanxi Province, in the northwest of China. The HLR is a central database that contains details of each mobile phone subscriber that is authorised to use the mobile network. The contract was secured through Alcatel Shanghai Bell, the French company’s Chinese flagship company. The upgraded network will be in commercial operation by end of July 2009. ‘Alcatel-Lucent’s industry-leading solution is enabling us to build a higher speed, more reliable and more secure network to satisfy the ever-increasing demands of our subscribers,’ commented Gao Buwen, general manager of Shanxi Mobile.
