Ericsson wins fixed broadband contracts from Chinese trio

Ericsson has been awarded contracts by the three telecoms operators in China to provide fixed broadband access networks. As a result of the deals, millions of people in an initial nine Chinese provinces will be able to enjoy high-definition TV, as well as high nspeed broadband and quality voice services. China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom are upgrading their networks in Anhui, Guangdong, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Hubei, Liaoning, Shandong, Shanghai and Sichuan provinces to enable services such as voice, high speed broadband and high-definition IPTV. Ericsson will roll out fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks for each of the trio, using state-of-the-art broadband fibre access technology (GPON or Gigabit Passive Optical Network), and its patented air-blown fibre solution. Ericsson will also provide a range of professional services including competence development, network design and optimisation, support services and consultancy.
