Optimus launches HSPA+

2 Jul 2009

Portuguese mobile operator Optimus has announced the commercial launch of HSPA+ technology across its networks in Lisbon and Porto. The mobile broadband upgrade will boost peak download speeds to 21.6Mbps and upload speeds to up to 5.76Mbps. HSPA+ based services are available through the company’s new tariff, ‘Kanguru Xpress 21.6’ which will cost subscribers EUR49.90 (USD70.27) a month and includes a portable USB flash memory device that customers can use to access the network. Optimus’ launch comes hot on the heels of Vodafone Portugal’s announcement that it had introduced HSPA+ services in Lisbon on 29 June.
