Israel considers allowing MVNO as fifth mobile operator

According to Arutz Sheva, Israel’s parliament is considering whether to allow a fifth mobile operator. The Economic Arrangements Bill which accompanies the state budget calls for the addition of a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). Network operators have until the end of this week to raise any objections, then the Knesset with vote on the entire bill in July. Hot, O12 Smile, Xfone and Israel Post are all said to have expressed an interest in becoming an MVNO. The proposed new player would have six months to come to an agreement with one of the four existing operators for use of its infrastructure.
