Indian mobile operator Tata Teleservices (TTSL), which currently operates over CDMA-based infrastructure, has reiterated that it plans to launch GSM-based services by the end of this month, the Economic Times reports. It has also revealed that services offered over its new network will be marketed under the Tata DoCoMo banner, after Japanese telecoms giant NTT DoCoMo acquired a 26% stake in the cellco in March 2009. TTSL expects to roll out GSM services in a phased manner, beginning in the south of the country, and has set aside approximately USD2 billion for development of the new infrastructure. The cellco expects to complete a pan-India GSM rollout before the end of the year.
