Tietong to be split, sources say

10 Jun 2009

SinoCast Daily Business Beat writes that China Tietong, the fixed line telco acquired by China Mobile last year, may be split into two operating units, with one being passed back to the control of the Ministry of Railways (MOR) and the other staying under the helm of China Mobile. Currently, Tietong provides railway and public communications services in the People’s Republic over the railway communication network and public communications network. Tietong was merged into China Mobile last year as part of the government’s long-expected industry reshuffle. However, the fixed line network operator, with large liabilities, was not injected into the listed arm of China Mobile.
