The Irish Times writes that the national telecoms regulator, the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg), has agreed a new deal with network operators that could save consumers and businesses up to EUR100 million (USD139.5 million) on their mobile phone bills. ComReg reportedly told the Oireachtas Committee on Economic Regulatory Affairs yesterday that under the deal the mobile termination rates (MTRs) they charge each other will be cut by more than half. Commissioner John Doherty said the MTR charge – which currently stands at around 12% for the service – will come down to 5%.
