BT inks satellite deal with SES Americom-New Skies

The LatAm division of UK-based BT Group has signed a contract with global satellite fleet operator SES Americom-New Skies to extend the reach of the operator’s IP telephony services to remote areas of Brazil, according to an SES statement. Under the deal, the value of which was not disclosed, SES will provide BT with almost a full transponder of satellite capacity for three years. The UK operator’s Latin American unit will use 92MHz-104MHz of capacity from SES’ NSS-10 satellite in order to connect its facilities in the cities of Manaus and Sao Paulo with rural parts of northern Brazil.
