Clearwire betting cautiously on WiMAX in Vegas

US-based wireless broadband operator Clearwire has begun to unofficially offer its ‘Clear’ WiMAX service to residents of Las Vegas, Unstrung reports. Company spokeswoman Jennifer Morgan said, ‘In advance of our full commercial launch in Las Vegas scheduled for this summer, we are now selling Clear services as part of our operational readiness activities. Store openings, advertising, and other market activities will be a part of our full commercial launch, but residents of Las Vegas can now go to and order the service.’ The soft launch mirrors Clearwire’s approach to bringing WiMAX to Atlanta and Portland earlier this year.
