Arcep to hold public consultation on plan to cut MTRs

French national telecoms regulator Arcep has launched a public consultation (open until 30 June) concerning a plan to reduce mobile termination rates (MTRs) for voice calls in French overseas territories in 2010. As it stands, Orange Caraibe charges EUR0.087 (USD0.123) per minute and SRR charges EUR0.085/minute. Arcep is looking to cut these rates to EUR0.055 per minute across the board and is also looking to implement a maximum rate of EUR0.120/minute for Dauphin Telecom, EUR0.065/minute for Digicel, EUR0.070/minute for Orange Reunion, EUR0.100/minute for Outremer Telecom (Guadeloupe, French Guiana and Martinique, EUR0.110/minute in Reunion and Mayotte, and EUR0.120/minute for UTS Caraibe.
