29 May 2009

US-based Voice-over-IP (VoIP) switching technologies provider Cedar Point has been chosen by German cableco Kabel Deutschland (KDG) to deploy SIP-based VoIP services to the operator’s residential customers. Cedar Point will supply the SAFARI C3 Multimedia Switching System, designed to support up to 250,000 lines of capacity in less than a cubic meter of space. The vendor says it has provided more than five million SAFARI C3 lines to customers in the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe. At end-April 2009 rival German cable operator NetCologne deployed the SAFARI C3 Multimedia Switching System for SIP-based voice services to subscribers in the regions of Cologne, Bonn and Aachen.
