ComCom gives green light to 3G at 900MHz

27 May 2009

Swiss telecoms regulator, ComCom has said it is enabling all three mobile network operators to use the 900MHz frequency range for 3G (W-CDMA) services. A minor reallocation of frequencies is necessary to achieve this: Orange, which owned too few 900MHz frequencies for this purpose, is receiving additional spectrum from Sunrise and Swisscom. In exchange, Orange will hand over frequencies in the 1800MHz range to its two rivals.
