20 May 2009

Mexican fixed line and broadband operator Alestra has upgraded its VoIP and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network infrastructure, having inked a deal with US-based vendor Agnity. According to a press release by Agnity, its Aconyx next generation intelligent network (NGIN) applications have already been deployed and are active on the network. The applications will reportedly allow Alestra to upgrade its service control point-based (SCP-based) platform and enable the telco to offer the same services on its VoIP and IMS infrastructure. Additionally the NGIN applications will reportedly allow Alestra to reduce its costs. No financial details of the agreement have been disclosed.
