STC technical glitch halts MNP service

19 May 2009

Saudi Arabia’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers Mobily has announced that its mobile number portability (MNP) service has been halted as a result of technical problems at incumbent operator Saudi Telecom Company (STC). Mobily said that it had received over 16,000 port-in requests that could not be processed because of the delay caused by STC’s problems, adding that the situation was beyond its control. Mobily has filed a complaint with regulatory body, the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) over the delay.
