18 May 2009

Bahraini wireless and satellite broadband operator Mena Telecom has announced that it has achieved ‘great success’ since launching a nationwide commercial WiMAX network five months ago, with subscriber take-up ‘exceeding expectations’, allowing it to expand its retail store presence across the country. Mena, controlled by Kuwait Finance House (Bahrain), claims to offer blanket coverage of Bahrain using WiMAX 802.16e (mobile) wireless technology. It added that its rate of new customer additions is ‘steadily growing’, whilst subscribers have been expressing ‘high satisfaction’, but did not reveal actual figures.
