British cableco Virgin Media is planning to expand its network infrastructure. The operator says it has identified approximately 500,000 homes that are close enough to its existing network to make them ‘commercially attractive’. Of those Virgin expects to extend coverage to 50,000 households by the end of 2009. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, at May 2009 Virgin Media’s network passed approximately 12.6 million homes.
