Argentine telco Telefonica de Argentina (TdA) has reported its fiscal results for the three months ended 31 March 2009, recording a 20.6% increase in revenue year-on-year to EUR690 million (USD937.7 million). OIBDA stood at EUR251 million in the first quarter, up 30.8% compared with the same period in 2008, while operating cash flow advanced 47.9% year-on-year to EUR205 million thanks to the increase in OIBDA and a 14.2% fall in CAPEX to EUR46 million.
TdA’s total customer base increased 6.5% year-on-year to 20.9 million. The company’s wireless arm, Movistar, reported mobile subscribers grew 9.1% to reach 15 million, net adds totalled 172,794 in the first quarter of 2009, 38.1% more than a year earlier. Mobile revenue amounted to EUR432 million, a year-on-year increase of 21.4%, and OIBDA increased 45.7% to EUR145 million. TdA’s broadband subscribers climbed 24.9% to over 1.1 million, although wireline customers fell 1.5% y-o-y, affected by the loss of fixed wireless lines.
