Mexican triple-play partnership eyeing 3G spectrum?

15 May 2009

The newly formed partnership between Megacable and Televisa subsidiaries Cablevision and Cablemas is planning to bid in the forthcoming auctions for 3G spectrum, BNamericas reports citing local press. It is believed that the operators would utilise the spectrum to offer mobile services to launch quadruple-play bundles; the three telcos announced earlier this week they would offer triple-play services in their respective regions of operation under the ‘YOO’ banner. In addition, the report suggests that the joint venture could offer WiMAX-based services at some point in the future, but it was unclear whether they would bid for spectrum for such services.
