Telenor acquires Danish mobile operator BiBoB

11 May 2009

Nordic telecoms group Telenor has acquired Danish discount mobile operator BiBoB for DKK93 million (17.04 million). Telenor already has a foothold in the Danish telecoms market through its subsidiary Telenor Denmark, which includes Tele2 Denmark and mobile operator Sonofon, and low-price mobile operator CBB Mobil and broadband provider Cybercity. Henrik Clausen, CEO of Telenor Denmark, commented on the acquisition: ‘BiBoB has achieved fair results in a record time and has set up a sound mobile business with 69,000 customers. We will continue this work and will further expand the BiBoB brand.’ According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Sonofon had a wireless subscriber base of 1.833 million at the end of March 2009.
