Swisscom’s net profit beat forecasts in the first quarter ended 31 March 2009, with a 14.1% rise to CHF485 million (USD429.6 million). Switzerland’s dominant telco confirmed its 2009 outlook, saying that excluding Italian division Fastweb it saw full year revenues of between CHF9.2 billion and CHF9.3 billion, and core profit (EBITDA) of CHF3.8 billion to CHF3.9 billion. Net sales for 1Q slipped 0.6% to CHF2.916 billion. Swisscom’s broadband access lines rose by 7.7% to 1.783 million at the end of March 2009, while Bluewin IPTV customers more than doubled to finish the period at 139,000. Swisscom Mobile reported a 6.2% increase in subscribers to 5.514 million, although monthly ARPU fell by over 7% to CHF48 as a result of price reductions and new tariff models, while the average number of minutes per user per month remained practically unchanged at 111 minutes.
