United Arab Emirates-based telecoms company Etisalat has announced it signed up over 10,000 customers for its BlackBerry services in April. ‘What we are seeing in terms of customer response is a reflection of Etisalat’s success in creating a strong value proposition with attractive packages and a choice of handsets on offer for both consumer and business users,’ said Abdulla Hashim, Etisalat’s VP of business solutions. ‘Our ability to deliver a great customer experience through Etisalat’s 3.5G mobile broadband service with coverage of up to 99% of the populated areas in the UAE has also been a strong selling point with our customers,’ he added. Also in April Etisalat claimed it had signed up 100,000 BlackBerry subscribers since launching the service in 2006. The operator currently offers seven BlackBerry handsets, including the BlackBerry Storm which was launched in April 2009, as well as three packages for the service.
