E-Plus Q1 2009 revenues up 4.1%, EBITDA rises 13.4%

German mobile operator E-Plus has announced its fiscal results for the three months ended 31 March 2009, reporting a 4.1% rise in revenue to EUR734 million, up from EUR705 million in the same period a year earlier. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 13.4% year-on-year to EUR322 million, compared to EUR284 million in the first quarter of 2008, while EBITDA margin rose to 41.6%, up from 37.6% in the same period a year earlier. In terms of subscribers, E-Plus’ wireless customer base reached 18.04 million at 31 March 2009, compared to 15.38 million at the end of the first quarter of 2008. Pre-paid subscribers made up 62.6% of the company’s total, up from 58.8% in the same period a year earlier.
