Etisalat adopts Nokia’s Ovi platform

UAE-based operator Etisalat has announced a new partnership with Nokia to offer a new range of mobile services based on the Finnish handset maker’s Ovi applications platform to all its mobile network users on Nokia devices. Ovi encompasses applications such as maps, navigation, games, web access, messaging and music, as well as utilities for managing, synchronising and sharing personal files and information. The new product range will be available to Etisalat’s 2G, 2.5G, 3G and 3.5G device users in UAE by the end of the current quarter, while the cooperation will be extended to other networks within the group in the Middle East and Africa ‘in due course’, according to a press release.
