28 Apr 2009

Greek cellco Cosmote has completed the acquisition of an additional 12.6% stake in Albanian wireless network operator Albania Mobile Communications (AMC) from the Albanian state for EUR48.2 million (USD63.7 million). Cosmote now directly and indirectly (through its 97% owned subsidiary Cosmo-Holding Albania) owns 95% of AMC. In November last year the government confirmed it was seeking to dispose of its stake and in February 2009 it was announced that the Greek company had secured the stake by outbidding Nexus Private Equity Partners, Bedminster Capital Management and Axos Capital.
