Tele2 reaches 87% population with 14.4Mbps 3.5G; adds Wi-Fi connectivity

Tele2 Sweden has announced that it has upgraded its HSPA-based 3.5G mobile network to offer maximum theoretical download speeds of 14.4Mbps in all towns with over 10,000 inhabitants as well as tourist resorts, giving coverage of over eight million Swedes, or approximately 87% of the population. In addition, the cellco has entered a partnership with wireless ISP The Cloud giving Tele2’s customers access to around 700 Wi-Fi hotspots throughout Scandinavia at connection speeds of up to 54Mbps, to be available in June 2009.
