Sistema Shyam to launch CDMA network in Calcutta in May

According to India’s Economic Times, Sistema Shyam Teleservices (SSTL), the joint venture of the Shyam Group and Russia’s Sistema, has revealed plans to launch its CDMA-based mobile services in Calcutta by early May. The operator has a licence to offer CDMA services in all of the country’s telecoms circles but, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, has only launched commercially in Rajasthan, in October 2008, and most recently Kerala and Tamil Nadu, where it began services last month.
