Armenian mobile operator ArmenTel, which trades under the Beeline banner, yesterday said it has registered its 500,000th video-call since launching its 3G network in September 2008. To mark the milestone ArmenTel awarded the winner, Armine Grigoryan from Yerevan, a new mobile phone. ArmenTel sales director Genadiy Kalgashkin told a news conference that the firm’s 3G network has to date registered over two million voice calls and 500,000 video-calls. Meanwhile, the head of customer services Bourastan Movsisyan reported ‘great interest’ in the UMTS service mainly from young people. She also noted that apart from fixed internet subscribers, there is also a significant increase in the number of 3G internet telephony users.
