Pakistan’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers, Telenor Pakistan, has announced that it has inked a five-year deal with Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) that will see the latter assist in the expansion and upgrading of the operator’s infrastructure. Under the turnkey contract NSN will undertake the site acquisition, construction, network implementation, logistics and project management. The vendor will also implement its Flexi Base Station, which it claims will allow Telenor to expand its network at reduced costs thanks to its energy efficiency. NSN will also monitor, manage and optimise the network using its NetAct and ServeAtOnce products once the rollout of the new hardware is complete, as well as offering training to Telenor Pakistan staff. No financial details of the agreement have been revealed.
