T-HT's Iskon launches IPTV

20 Apr 2009

IPTV News reports that Iskon, a subsidiary of Croatian incumbent telco T-Hrvatski Telekom (T-HT), has launched an IPTV service called Iskon.TV, initially available in nine cities: Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Pula, Osijek, Velika Gorica, Samobor, Opatija and Solin. The service features over 40 channels, whilst double- and triple-play packages bundling internet access and telephony are available, as well as a number of converged services such as telephone Caller ID on the TV screen. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, in April 2006 T-HT bought Iskon for USD17.6 million, which it consolidated the following June, but Iskon has retained its well-established brand name. T-HT launched commercial IPTV services in September 2006 under the MAXtv banner; it announced earlier this month that it had 150,000 MAXtv subscribers.
