Sun shines in Q1

Digital Mobile Philippines (DMPI), the cellular arm of Filipino listed operator Digital Telecommunications Philippines (Digitel), is understood to have registered more than nine million subscribers to its network in the first quarter of this year. The cellco, which offers services under the banner Sun Cellular, ended 2008 with around 8.15 million users, but is expected to show a significant rise in subscribers when it publishes its 1Q09 results shortly.
