Azercell increases number of base stations to 1,576

In the last two months Azerbaijani mobile operator Azercell Telecom has installed 13 new base stations and commissioned the construction of a further 30 in a bid to expand coverage and improve service quality. The new base stations have been installed in the capital Baku, as well as the cities of Masally, Guba and Sheki, bringing Azercell’s total to 1,576. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Azercell was the country’s largest cellco by subscribers at the end of 2008, with a customer base of 3.47 million, representing a market share of 55.24%.
