Mozambique delays mobile licence tender

Instituto Nacional das Comunicacoes (INCM), Mozambique’s telecoms regulator, has delayed the search for a third national mobile operator citing financial and technical difficulties, the African Press Agency reports. The regulators met in Maputo this week to discuss the launch of a tender for a national mobile concession, but decided to postpone the launch after the two existing mobile service providers, state-owned mCel and Vodacom Mozambique, raised objections to the proposal. International mobile group Vodafone has expressed an interest in purchasing the concession.
