UAE’s Etisalat will make a bid for Syria’s third mobile network operating licence this year and also remains committed to bid for a cellular concession in Lebanon whenever the country privatises the sector, the company’s chairman told Zawya Dow Jones yesterday. ‘We are looking to participate in Syria’s third licence [auction],’ said Mohammad Hassan Omran, ‘…We have shown our intention to the Lebanese government that when they privatise … the mobile sector and open up their fixed line [market], we are interested.’
