According to Rapid TV News, Malaysian fixed line and broadband operator Telekom Malaysia™ is aiming to launch commercial IPTV services by the end of 2009, following trials of the service in more than 10,000 homes. The operator’s existing television offering, Hypp.TV, offers online content but only to subscribers to TM’s Streamyx high speed broadband service, and can only be viewed on a computer. The trial service offers 30 channels, with TM expecting to increase that to 50 by year-end, and set-top boxes will also be made available by that date.
