According to Australia’s ITNews, incumbent Telstra has kick-started plans to upgrade more than 420 regional exchanges to ADSL2+. Citing comments from Telstra chairman, Donald McGauchie, the report claims that the exchange upgrade programme began last week, and it is expected to be completed ‘in the next 200 days’. The project will see Telstra upgrade 421 exchanges to offer ADSL2+ services, adding to the approximate 1,400 that are already ADSL2+ ready.

The Telstra executive also announced that it is to build a further 141 base stations for its NextG network before the end of June as part of an AUD42 million (USD29 million) investment plan.
