BNamericas is reporting that Bolivian telco Co-operativa de Telecomunicaciones Santa Cruz (COTAS) will launch triple-play packages within two to three months in the city of Santa Cruz, citing comments from Herland Suarez Antelo, CEO of COTAS. It is understood that the operator is upgrading its infrastructure to prepare for the new services. COTAS already offers fixed line voice and broadband services, as well as cable TV, but it does not yet bundle the services as a single package.
It is also reported that COTAS is preparing the launch of fixed-wireless voice services, which will be offered using GSM technology in the 900MHz spectrum. COTAS has partnered with Chinese hardware vendor Huawei for the project, and it is expected that the service will launch in May 2009. The operator maintains the new network will allow it to offer services in areas where its fixed line infrastructure is less prevalent.
