Unitymedia begins network upgrade in Borken, Heiden

24 Mar 2009

Cologne-based cable operator Unitymedia has begun upgrading its network in the cities of Borken and Heiden in the region of North Rhine-Westphalia. From 10 April around 14,500 households will be able benefit from Unitymedia’s triple-play services for the first time. The upgrade follows the cableco’s expansion to an additional 24,000 households in the federal state of Hessen, after its takeover of smaller regional competitor KfGW in February. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Unitymedia served over 8.7 million homes at the end of 2008, out of a possible 11.4 million in the regions of Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia.
