24 Mar 2009

Saudi Arabia’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers, Mobily, has announced the launch of a high speed uplink packet access (HSUPA) upgrade to its 3G/3.5G network. In a SAR1 billion (USD267 million) rollout, the 3.5G technology will boost mobile upload speeds in the main cities of Saudi Arabia, with further expansion expected over the coming months. In July 2006 Mobily launched its HDSPA network and claimed 70% population coverage and 300,000 3G subscribers at the end of 2008.
