Full-service communications group Telus will invest CAD500 million (USD393 million) in British Columbia this year to expand mobile and broadband coverage and upgrade data speeds, reports The Vancouver Sun. About half the money has been earmarked for upgrading Telus’s wireless infrastructure to high speed packet access (HSPA) technology, CEO Darren Entwistle said in an interview. The remainder will be spent improving fixed broadband coverage in urban centres and expanding to remote communities, he added. Since 2000 Telus has spent CAD19 billion in British Columbia on capital and operating expenses.
