NBN winner announcement further delayed

18 Mar 2009

According to Bloomberg, a decision on the winner of the tender for Australia’s National Broadband Network (NBN) looks set for a further delay. Originally scheduled to be announced at the beginning of March 2009, the conclusion of the tender process was delayed by three weeks following wildfires across the country. It is now understood that no announcement will take place regarding the winner until Kevin Rudd, the prime minister, returns from the G20 summit in London next month. Additionally, it is also rumoured that another reason for this fresh setback is that communications minister Stephen Conroy has yet to reach a final decision on the winner of the tender.
