Orange UK begins 20Mbps fixed broadband trials

9 Mar 2009

British telco Orange has announced that it has begun trials offering download speeds of up to 20Mbps on its fixed broadband network. The higher speed service is initially available to selected customers only, with immediate effect, as the operator looks to monitor stability and performance of the higher speed service prior to a network-wide rollout. Those customers selected for the trial will continue to pay the monthly charges for their current up to 8Mbps service. Commenting on the announcement, Asif Aziz, Orange’s director of Broadband & Home, said, ‘This trial is an important step in enabling us to offer up to 20bps home broadband to consumers across our network. It is also testament to our ongoing commitment to evolve our fixed broadband service and ensure we offer customers a truly reliable user experience.’
