The US cellular operator Leap Wireless International, which offers flat-rate unlimited services under the Cricket brand, says it is to launch services in Philadelphia tomorrow, taking its total network coverage to 83.8 million people in 30 states. ‘Our launch in Philadelphia follows last month’s successful launch in Chicago, and is part of our overall plan to expand our Cricket service to even more geographies across the country over the next year,’ said Doug Hutcheson, president and CEO of Leap. Cricket rate plans range from USD30 to USD60 per month and offer options including unlimited anytime minutes, unlimited US long-distance and unlimited text and picture messaging. Leap had 3.84 million subscribers at the end of December according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
