BSkyB and Tiscali UK sale off

9 Mar 2009

According to Reuters, the sale of Italy-based Tiscali’s UK broadband operations to British triple-play provider BSkyB has become ‘almost impossible’. It is understood that, following revelations that talks between the two operators had stalled at the end of 2008 over valuation of the assets, market conditions for both companies had deteriorated. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Tiscali had indicated last month that it expected the sale of the British arm to be completed by end-March 2009; this deadline now looks as though it will pass, and the operator is expected to present a new plan of action to its board on 27 March, when it meets to discuss financial results for the 2008 fiscal year.
