TeliaSonera to raise fixed line rental for first time in eight years

5 Mar 2009

TeliaSonera Sweden announced today that it will increase its fixed line subscription prices for the first time since 2001. The former monopoly operator said it would raise the basic monthly residential fixed line rental fee (Telia Bas) to SEK145 (USD15.85) from SEK125, and Telia business line subscriptions from SEK116 to SEK132 per month, excluding VAT. Earlier this month, the group’s wholesale fixed network unit Skanova, which offers services to TeliaSonera on equal terms to its domestic competitors, issued a new price list for copper network access products, as a result of ‘the ongoing shift in technology and rising costs per connection’. TeliaSonera says it will offset the increases, due to take effect on 14 April, by offering its customers attractive combination packages for telephony, broadband and TV.
