TIM Brasil launches 3G with USD5 per day pre-paid plan

Brazilian mobile operator TIM Brasil has launched a pre-paid 3G mobile plan offering customers an unlimited connection with up to 250MB for downloads for USD5 per day. According to TIM Brasil chairman Luca Luciani, people signing up to the offer must also purchase a modem costing USD299. The executive says that the Brazilian market has great potential for mobile broadband access and says the subsidiary will invest heavily in broadband offerings in 2009. TIM Brasil closed 2008 with 500,000 3G subscribers and, according to Luciani, has registered great demand for the service in 2009, reaching an average of 1,500 subscribers per week.
