T-Mobile set to increase mobile broadband speeds

4 Mar 2009

According to comments from T-Mobile UK’s technical director, Emin Gurdenli, the mobile operator will soon increase the speeds of its HSPA services. Speaking to ZDNet, Mr Gurdenli revealed that plans to increase downstream speeds to 14.4Mbps were at an advanced stage; the upgrade will increase the speed of 7.2Mbps that the cellco is currently capable of delivering. Additionally, following the successful trials of HSPA+ services by rival mobile group Vodafone in Spain last month, T-Mobile is understood to be preparing its own trials of similar technology in the UK later this year.
