Reshetnev to build Telkom’s new satellite

Indonesia’s largest telecoms operator by subscribers and revenues, PT Telkom, has awarded a USD200 million contract to Russia’s ISS-Reshetnev for the supply of a new telecommunications satellite. AsiaPulse reports that under the deal, ISS-Reshetnev will build the operator’s Telkom 3 telecoms satellite, provide satellite control equipment and training, as well as providing internship for Telkom technicians. The orbiter, which will have 42 transponders, is expected to be ready for the launch in August 2011, Rinaldi Firmansyah, the president of the state company, said.
